Calling South African Anons!!

I’d like to start todays post first by apologising to the legions of Anonyomous around the world. I had thought that perhaps you had lost momentum and failed to keep to your promise of monthly marches against the “church” of Scientology, you didn’t. True to form, you went out, hit the streets and pissed on the corrupt, Hubbard-tainted dreams of the “church” the world over. Great stuff guys!!!

Second, I’d like to thank one Paul Horner and his “stop Scientology blog” for linking up to me and showing me that the protests did indeed take place.

I think South Africa needs to organise to march against the “church” of Scientology next month, coinciding with the worldwide protests. The presence of Scientology in this country is far more deep-seated than many of us would give it credit for.

On top of that, there is, as I have been informed, a reasonable-sized resistance to the spread of Scientology in this country. But where is everyone? We’re all happy to complain about, and poke fun at, the “church” of Scientology, but honestly they are no laughing matter.

At the lower levels, perhaps one could giggle a bit at them and their antics, but the higher up the echelons of power you get, the scarier and creepier those antics become. Violence, blackmail, extortion. These are the “antics” of dangerous, organised criminals and are not to be laughed at. Someone has to speak out, if not to bring down the “church” of Scientology, then at least to help those caught in the web and those that we might save from being caught in that web.

A protest, a peaceful demonstration needn’t be made up of thousands of people, look at what this Israeli Anon had to say about his demonstration of only 5!!

Consider it, and lets all get together, organise something if we can.

Apparently there’s a Face Book group acting as a forum for speaking out against the “church”?

Could this be used?

South Africa’s complacency

Across the world, protests have been held in active defiance of the “super-cult” known as Scientology.

Since 11 February of this year the loosely-organised Internet-based group known only as Anonymous has been staging monthly protests at churches of Scientology around the world. Some of the countries that saw these demonstrations were:

In fact, there were demonstrations held largely across Europe as a whole. Almost every country with a strong presence of Scientology saw protests against the organisation’s existence and rather suspicious methods of ensuring loyalty….

Except South Africa.

The Scientology influence in this country has been a prominent and growing one for over half a century, the church of Scientology, led by L Ron Hubbard, even tried dipping it’s collective fingers into the Apartheid pie. The only thing that stopped him was international criticism of his “church” andthe Apartheid era government not wanting to draw evenmore negative publicity to it’s activities.

Recently, the organisation, which is more and more widely being seen as a criminal empire rather than a church, purchased the Kyalami castle. The castle is being used as a “spiritual retreat” for African Scientologists and is set to be the base of operations for the empire’s expansion into Africa. Quite a pricey aquisition for a so-called non-profit organisation.

What worries me is that, in spite of such obvious expansion of what should be commonly-known as a dangerous cult, no one in South Africa raised so much as an eyebrow, nevermind their voices.

I know that at present mine is but a single voice in the dark, chances are, most South Africans couldn’t give a damn about the church of Scientology, unless they’re apart of it. However I’d like to point out that freedom is stolen from those who refuse to take advantage of it’s power to protect itself.

The church of Scientology is known for silencing it’s critics, oppressing freedom of speech in order to hide the truth about some of their more dubious activities. The only reason they get away with this is that people allow them to do it.

Using the guise of a persecuted religion, combined with vicious strongarm tactics and incomprehensible wealth, the church of Scientology has effectively protected its interests while stepping on the rights of everyone else.

There are problems, holes in the defense of the organisation, questions they refuse to answer. The upper echelons of power within Scientology reek of corruption. This means that fighting them means not only fighting to keep the free, free, but also fighting to help free the members of the church that are already under the thrall of the groups brainwashing techniques.

I don’t ask for mass demonstrations or protests, nor do I ask for premeditated attacks on the church, or it’s members. All I want to see is South Africans using the freedom of thought and voice that was once fought so hard for, watch for wrong and endeavour to set them right.

Another interesting spot to find out about the injustices this Cult has wrought on it’s victims is “ask the scientologist”…. check it out here.
